NEWS RELEASE-2ND ALARM FIRE IN KEENE AUGUST 11,2010

Occupants Of A Single Family Residence Escape Building Fire Without Injury At 616 Marlborough Road

Keene firefighters were dispatched to a reported building fire at 0213 hours located at 616 Marlborough Road. with possible occupants trapped. While responding the Mutual Aid Dispatch Center informed the shift commander that they have confirmed all occupants were out of the building. The shift commander arrived on scene with smoke showing and upgraded to a second alarm assignment. The initial engine crew entered the building with an attack line and located the fire in the basement. The Thermal Imager Cameras were used to maneuver through the basement to extinguish the fire. Due to storage of motorcycles, tires, petroleum based fluids and general storage made it difficult to move through the basement. The fire was extinguished quickly and overhaul was completed to check for any extension of fire. The fire had extended into the back wall and burned away a section of the first floor. The fire was called under control at 0308 hours Apparatus remained at the scene at the time of this news release

No injuries were reported from occupants or firefighters throughout the incident.

Damage is considered significant to the building and not habitable. There were no exposure problems with other structures. Public Service arrived and disconnected power to the building.

The Fire Investigation Team remained on scene, the incident is under investigation.

Southwest New Hampshire District Fire Mutual Aid dispatched the fire as well as supplied a communication specialist to assist at the scene
