ON THIS DATE IN HISTORY
History shows that today was not a good day for fires.18 years ago today in 1999 - 2 people died as a result of a house fire in North Swanzey.
29 years ago today there was 1 fatality in a house fire in Wilmington on Atherton Rd.
35 years ago today there was 1 fatality in a house fire in Wilmington off Dix Rd in what was known as the Wimmelman Development.
FIRE MUTUAL AID STATISTICS
In 2016, Fire Mutual Aid Dispatch Center dispatched 19,670 incidents. From 2014, this is an increase of 1,715 incidents in a two year period. The incidents range from a medical house call with a single unit responding to major motor vehicle accidents and multiple alarm fires with many units and towns responding. For instance, the 190 acre brush fire in April in Stoddard was counted as one incident but lasted for days with many resources sent. The workload in this case was enormous for the dispatchers on duty to coordinate such a huge response. The number of incidents per year clearly does not define the constant workload in the dispatch center.
PORTABLE RADIOS
Southwestern NH District Fire Mutual Aid has received a grant to purchase some Motorola APX 8000 All band P-25 radios and will pass on the savings to members wishing to take advantage of the lower pricing. If interested contact Chief Philip Tirrell at 603-352-1291 in the next 2 weeks for prices and ordering.

DISPATCHER JOB OPENING
