FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS FOR BRATTLEBORO RETIRED ASSISTANT CHIEF JOHN E. WHEELDEN SR.

Arrangements for retired Brattleboro Asst Chief John Wheelden ( and a volunteer in Vernon & Wilmington) have been finalized and are as follows;· Calling hours – Friday, December 14 2p-4p and 6p-8p at Ker Funeral Home on High St· Funeral – Saturday, December 15 at noon at St Michaels Church on Walnut St· Burial at Morningside immediately following the service· Reception at the Elks after burial.· BFD will attend calling hours in the evening. There is a fire service prayer at 7pm. Please meet at Central Station no later than 6:15p · BFD will join other FD’s in forming an honor guard at the church and cemetery on Saturday. Please meet at Central Station no later than 11:15. BFD Eng 1 will lead the funeral procession from the church to the cemetery, a Vernon engine will follow the hearse.ALL PARTICIPATION WILL BE IN CLASS A UNIFORM (no badge covers) .

DEATH ANNOUNCEMENT

It is with regret that the Brattleboro Vermont Fire Department announces the passing of Retired Assistant Chief John E. Wheelden Sr. John served the Brattleboro Fire Department for 57 years. He retired from his career position in 1987, but served on the Call Force until 2009. John also served as a volunteer with the Vernon Vermont Fire Department and the Wilmington Vermont Fire Department. He is a Honorary Life Member of Brattleboro and Wilmington Fire Departments. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time and will be announced at a later date.

CHESHIRE COUNTY FOREST FIRE WARDENS MEETING AND DINNER

Cheshire County Forest Fire Warden's Dinner and meeting will be Tuesday, December 4th at the church in Nelson. Dinner at 1900 hours, meeting at 2000 hours, and Yankee Swap to follow. Also a reminder for all members to submit up to date contact info to the Secretary as we are updating our by-laws and all members must be notified.
