ANNUAL KEENE FIRE DEPARTMENT FIRE PREVENTION PARADE

The annual Keene Fire Department Fire Prevention Parade will take place on Sunday October 3,2010. The parade route is Marlboro St., to Main St.,north on Main St. to Washington St. and disbands at the fire station on Vernon St. All departments are invited to attend with marching units and/or apparatus.Parade line-up is at 350 Marlboro St. starting at 1200. The parade begins at 1300 hours.

1st Annual Jaffrey Fire Department 5K Race

The Jaffrey Firefighters Company, Inc. proudly presents the 1st Annual Jaffrey Fire Department 5K Race.Saturday September 11, 2010 5k Run/Walk mixed cross country terrain including hard pack trails, wooded terrain, mild hills, Possibly some mud, mostly wide trail. Timed event results to be posted after the race. All proceeds from the 5K race benefit the Jaffrey Firefighters Company Inc. a fundraising and support organization for the Jaffrey NH Fire Department. The Jaffrey Firefighters Company, Inc is a volunteer organization made up of the firefighters, their families and members of the community who give their time in support of the Fire Department. This allows the Fire Department to acquire items that cannot be purchased within the town budget. The Jaffrey Fire Department is made up of a full-time Fire Chief and 25 on-call members serving the town of Jaffrey, NH. They provide fire prevention, suppression, rescue, EMS, public service and education. FRANKLIN COUNTY FAIR EMERGENCY SERVICES PARADE

Greenfield,Ma. Sunday September 12,2010.Line up at 1100 Franklin County Courthouse Parking Lot.Parade steps off at 12 noon sharp. Parade will proceed down Main St.,left on River St.,right on Laurel St and up the hill to the rear gate at the Fairgrounds. Muster will immediately follow the completion of the parade. Keene House Damaged by Fire

Keene Fire Department was dispatched on a First Alarm at 0258 hours to a reported garage fire at 1157 Roxbury Road in Keene.

Engine 1, Ladder 1, Ladder 2, Car 3 and Car 2 responded. Dispatch reported to Car 3 while responding that they were taking multiple calls on the fire and that Keene Police units were on scene reporting a garage heavily involved in fire with extension into the residence. Car 3- Lt. Cram requested a 2nd. Alarm based on the reports from the scene.

Car 3 and Engine 1 were first to arrive on scene. Car 3 confirmed the earlier reports of the fire and established command. KPD units on scene reported to them that the two occupants were out of the residence and safe. Crews from Engine 1, Ladder 1 and Ladder 2 were assigned to attack the heavily involved garage to knock down the major fire while additional crews deployed attack lines into the front of the residence to stop the fire that had already extended into the one story home.

Units assigned on the 2nd. Alarm, Car 1, Rescue 1, Engine 2, Ambulance 3, Marlborough Engine and Brattleboro Engine all provided assistance as needed.

Primary and secondary searches were conducted by crews to confirm there was no one in the residence. Fire crews did a great job in containing and extinguishing the heavy fire that had extended into the residence from the garage.

The fire was declared under control at 0338 hours. The garage was destroyed by the fire with the residence suffering heavy fire and structural damage to approximately one third of the building. The remaining two thirds of the residence suffered major heat, smoke and water damage.

There were no injuries reported, one occupant was checked out at the scene however refused transport. The home is owned by James Phillips of Keene.

The origin and cause of the fire is under investigation by the Keene Fire Department Investigation Team at the time of this release.

Keene Police and the Red Cross assisted on scene

Mutual Aid units from Swanzey, Spofford, Walpole and Peterborough provided coverage to the two Keene Stations during the fire.

Keene Fire units also remain on scene as of 0700 hours.
