KEENE FIRE DEPARTMENT APPOINTS DEPUTY FIRE CHIEF

MEMORANDUM

Subject: Deputy Fire Chief Promotion

It is with great pleasure that I announce the promotion of Lieutenant Jeffrey Chickering to the position of Deputy Fire Chief effective August 30, 2015.

Deputy Chief Chickering (19C2) will assume the second in command responsibilities of the department. Deputy Chief Chickering will be working closely with the command staff in the development of our members, budgeting, short/long term planning, improving day to day operations, overseeing the operation division and training officer.

Deputy Chief Chickering has served the City of Keene for 23 years. He joined the Keene Fire Department on April 1, 1992 and was assigned to the Deluge Call Company. On August 1, 1993 he became a career firefighter. Since that time he has served the department in many positions including Firefighter/Paramedic, Lieutenant- Operations and Captain in the Training Division. He has also served on department committee’s including apparatus replacement, health and safety and EMS.

Deputy Chief Chickering has been involved in many aspects of advanced training since the start of his career with Keene. He is a National Registered Paramedic and has certifications from the New Hampshire Fire Academy including Fire Officer II, Fire Instructor III, Fire Inspector II, Incident Safety Officer, Hazardous Material Technician, Swift Water Rescue I-II, and Rescue Systems I-II. Deputy Chief Chickering also holds certifications from the National Fire Academy that include Leadership I-III, Command and Control at Natural and Manmade Disasters, Chemistry of Hazardous Materials, Command and Control of Incident Operations, Training Program Management, and Residential Sprinkler Plan review. Deputy Chief Chickering has Associates Degrees in Machine Tool Technology and Fire Science from the New Hampshire Vocational Technical College.

Deputy Chief Chickering also brings his experience gained as a member of the Chesterfield Fire Department which he has served since 1985. Within that department he has served in many capacities including as Fire Chief since 2010.

I welcome Deputy Chief Chickering in his new position and know that his passion, dedication and commitment to the fire service will serve our department at a high level as we move forward.
