“The Evolution of PPE and other Innovations including Barrier Hood Technology”
Battalion Chief Bob Keys worked 31 years in the FDNY. His final assignment was Chief in Charge of The Research and Development Unit. With dramatic videos and pictures Chief Keys describes the changes in Personal Protective Equipment and how they saved the lives of two Brooklyn firefighters caught in a horrendous flashover. His presentation also includes development of The Personal Safety System (PSS or Bailout Bag) along with many other PPE innovations that help make firefighting a little bit safer.
Other inventions talked about include the Hi-Rise Nozzle that is used to safely combat wind driven fires in very tall buildings. The Drag Rescue Device that allows firefighters to rescue one another with a strap built into their coats is also explained.
Additionally, this presentation will include an in depth look into advancements in Particulate Barrier Hood technology that is integral in reducing exposure to carcinogens.

Francestown Fire Department announces the passing of retired member Richard Leavitt a 55 year member of company and serving as the Town Forest Fire Warden for 46 years. A memorial service will be held this Saturday August 4th at the Francestown station 250 2nd NH Turnpike south from 11:00 hrs to 13:00hrs.

It is with deep regret the Newbrook and Townshend Fire Departments announce the passing of Past Chief Mark Morse. Mark was a Life Member of The Newbrook Fire Department and served as Chief from 1982 to 1984. Mark was also Chief of The Townshend Fire Department for many years.
A celebration of Mark's Life will be held August 11, 2018 at 2 pm at the Newfane Flea Market on Route 30.

KEENE FIRE DEPARTMENT HIRING LIST
Keene Fire Department is seeking applications for Firefighter/Paramedic/AEMT/EMT to respond to emergency calls to protect life and property. The position is required to perform skilled work including but not limited to; fire suppression, technical rescue, vehicle extrication and provide medical care to sick or injured. The position includes driving of emergency EMS and Fire apparatus. Candidate must possess the ability to operate in stressful situations.
Applicants must meet State of New Hampshire Administrative Rule 701 for Firefighter Entrance Requirements. Successful completion of CPAT as well as being a candidate on the NH Statewide Firefighter Eligibility List or a lateral transfer of a full-time career personnel pursuant to Administrative Rule 703.01 will be accepted. Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid driver’s license. Candidates must be NH or Pro-Board Certified Firefighter Level I, Hazardous Materials Operations Level, and Nationally Registered EMT to apply. Preferred qualifications: Firefighter II and AEMT/Paramedic.
Candidates who receive a conditional offer of employment will be required to pass a physical exam, drug screen, motor vehicle record check, criminal background check and polygraph.
New hires must meet the residency requirement as established by the fire department within the first year of employment. Additional conditions of employment may apply.
At the conclusion of this process candidates that successfully complete the hiring process will be placed on a hiring list for future openings.
