ON THIS DATE IN HISTORY

30 years ago today on March 2, 1986 – Fatal Fire at 15 Canal St. Brattleboro. A child died after being rescued by firefighters. Two adults were also rescued. Many heroic efforts by Brattleboro firefighters in the first few minutes of this early morning fire. Then lieutenant, Jeff Robinson was one of the first firefighters on scene who helped rescue the occupants. NH FIRE CREW TRAINING

NH Fire Crew Training RT-130 Safety Refresher This is the yearly refresher that all fire fighters need to take to stay current whether you go out on a crew or not. It needs to be taken each year. Date: Saturday March 5th RSVP by Feb. 26th Location: Bear Brook Warehouse, Allenstown NH (Bear Brook State Park) Time: 9am to 5pm

S-110 Rookie Class This class needs to be taken by any new members of the Fire crew. If it was taken last year and you did not go out with the crew you do not have to take it again. Upcoming Emergency Management and Homeland Security Training Opportunities L958 Operations Section Chief: Location: Berlin Dates: March 8 - 11, 2016 This course is designed to provide local and state-level emergency responders with a robust understanding of the duties, responsibilities, and capabilities of an effective OSC on an All-Hazards Incident Management Team. These responsibilities fall into two categories: 1) responding to the incident and the command needs of the incident, 2) effectively fulfilling the position responsibilities of an Operations Section Chief on an All-Hazards ICS Incident Management Team. Exercises, simulations, discussions, and a final exam enable participants to process and apply their new knowledge.

DisasterLAN: Location: Waterbury Dates: March 17, 2016 DisasterLAN is the web-based incident management system designed for use in emergency operations centers with which Division of Emergency Management & Homeland Security interfaces. This course will teach you how disasters are managed from the State Emergency Operation Center, to include interaction with stakeholders such as local municipalities and regional planning commissions, mechanisms for public warning, resource requests and information flow, developing and maintaining situational awareness.

Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation (HSEE): Location: Rutland Regional Medical Center Dates: March 29 - 31, 2016 The HSEEP Basic course provides a comprehensive overview of exercise design along with practical skill development. Using the same terminology and processes, this course will provide activities that will give participants an opportunity to interact with many of the templates and other materials that are provided by the National Exercise Division to ensure exercises are conducted in a consistent manner.
