Memorial Service for the Star Hotel Fire

Bellows Falls, Thursday, December 29, 2011

A brief memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at 18:00 at the former site of the Star Hotel in the Square in Bellows Falls. The memorial service will be held on the 30th anniversary of the tragic fire that resulted in the deaths of Terry Brown and Dana Fuller two Bellows Falls Firefighters.

These two Bellows Falls Firefighters were killed in the line of duty fighting this horrific fire on December 29, 1981. The brief memorial service will take place were the old hotel once stood in the Village Square in the area of the flag pole and two granite benches that were placed there to commemorate these two firefighters that gave their lives during this tragic event.

We feel it is very important that the community remember that these heroes gave their lives providing this vital service and protecting their community. RETIRED KEENE FIRE CAPTAIN PASSES AWAY

The Keene Fire Dept. regrets to announce the passing of Retired Captain Robert Mason. He started his career in 1962, promoted to Captain in 1976. He retired in 1984. A service will be held December 8th at 1200 hours at The Foley Funeral Home 49 Court St in Keene. Any FD members attending are asked to meet at the Keene Central Station at 1130 hours in Class A uniform. There are no calling hours.

FITZWILLIAM FUND RAISER

The Fitzwilliam Fire Dept. is selling afghans & picnic baskets. Each afghan has various pictures of town buildings & are 100% cotton, made in the USA. They are 48"x 68" for $50 each. The lightly stained picnic baskets are 17"x12"x12" with handles & a lid showing the Eagle 1 Hand Tub Pumper. The picnic baskets are $45 each.
