It is with deep regret that the Nelson Fire Dept. announces the passing of retired Fire Chief Ray Huber. He was a 62 year member of the department and was Chief for 15 of those years. Calling hours will be held Thursday June 2 from 1700-1900 hours at Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court St. in Keene,NH

The Fire Instructors & Officers Association of New Hampshire is pleased to announce a very exciting training opportunity! 2011 Firefighter Safety & Survival Symposium:"Close Calls... Close to Home!" Thursday, May 26, 2011 New Hampshire Fire Academy, Concord, NH Keynote Speaker & Moderator: Chief Peter Lamb, North Attleboro, MA Fire Department The 2011 Firefighter Safety & Survival Symposium will feature five case studies of local and recent close calls presented by the people who actually experienced the event. Each presenter will discuss their personal story in a moderated open and unbiased roundtable format so we can all learn from their unfortunate experience. Roundtable close call survivor presentations will include: · Rapid fire development in an occupied multiple dwelling· Firefighter entrapment in a commercial building· Apparatus struck while operating at a motor vehicle accident· Firefighter through a floor in a single family dwelling· Resuscitation of an on-scene firefighter cardiac arrestEach speaker has graciously agreed to donate their time, allowing us to make this very affordable program a benefit fundraiser… At least $10 of your tuition will be donated to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation!
