JAFFREY FIRE & RESCUE THERMAL IMAGING CAMERA TRAINING

Jaffrey Fire Department personnel recently completed a thermal insult recognition class with FETC Services of Keene NH. Firefighters were subjected to multiple live fire evolutions focusing on how to interpret images viewed on the fire department's (TIC) - thermal imaging camera. Before this technology was available, firefighters were forced to feel their way through thick black smoke. This technique often took a long time to search / locate victims or find a fire in a residence. Firefighters in attendance were trained on how to read and interpret "heat energy signatures" on the cameras screen which will expedite locating potential victims or the fire.Photo Credit: Sarah Capone Whitney
