VERMONT FORESTRY URGES CAUTION

Fire officials with the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation urge the public to consider postponing any open burning until Vermont has received a significant wetting rain. Any open burning requires a burn permit from the Town Forest Fire Warden and should be done with the mindset of having a controlled burn. There has been very little rain for almost 2 weeks which has significantly increased fire danger. This warm, dry stretch of weather is predicted to last until early next week and all sizes of wildland fuel will remain critically dry. Until the weather changes, weigh the timing and need of any open burning against the risk that a wildland fire poses to people and property.
