FIRE MUTUAL AID IS HIRING

Southwestern NH District Fire Mutual Aid is accepting resume`s for part time and full time Communications Specialists for the purpose of developing a hiring list for future openings. There are presently 2 part time openings. Resume`s should be mailed to Chief Philip Tirrell, PO Box 443, Keene NH 03431 before September 9, 2016 at 3:00pm. Resume`s may be dropped off at the dispatch center at 32 Vernon St. in Keene with prior notification.

FIRE MUTUAL AID TRAINING PROGRAM

SOUTHWESTERN NH DISTRICT FIRE MUTUAL AID WILL BE CONDUCTING A TRAINING SESSION ABOUT FIRE MUTUAL AID AND PROPER RADIO PROCEDURES AT THE FALL MOUNTAIN REGIONAL HIGH SCHOOL OFF ROUTE 12A IN LANGDON ON SEPTEMBER 20th AT 1900 HOURS.
ALL AREA DEPARTMENTS ARE WELCOME TO ATTEND.

17 years ago today – Sawyer Farm Fire in Jaffrey. Over 100 head of cattle perished in the fire. Extensive mutual aid sent to the fire.

20 years ago today on August 22, 1996 – PAC Fire (Whelen Engineering) in Charlestown. Dispatchers on duty were Paul Szoc, Walt Kesek and Neal Collier. All 3 dispatchers are now retired.

4 years ago today on August 21, 2012 – Mo’s Market Fire on Route 30 in Jamaica. 3 alarm fire with many additional tankers sent as far away as Chester, Vt. and Chesterfield, NH. Dispatchers on duty were Lt.Tom Redin and Dispatcher Kassie (Dupre) Lunderville.

ON THIS DATE IN HISTORY – 19 years ago today on August 19, 1997 was the Carl Drega incident in Colebrook NH where 4 people were murdered including 2 NH State Troopers. This incident sparked the birth of what is now known as InterOperability in New Hampshire. Different agencies involved in this incident could not talk to each other on two way radios in 1997.
