Arrangements for retired Brattleboro Asst Chief John Wheelden ( and a volunteer in Vernon & Wilmington) have been finalized and are as follows;Â· Calling hours â€“ Friday, December 14 2p-4p and 6p-8p at Ker Funeral Home on High StÂ· Funeral â€“ Saturday, December 15 at noon at St Michaels Church on Walnut StÂ· Burial at Morningside immediately following the serviceÂ· Reception at the Elks after burial.
Â· BFD will attend calling hours in the evening. There is a fire service prayer at 7pm. Please meet at Central Station no later than 6:15p Â· BFD will join other FDâ€™s in forming an honor guard at the church and cemetery on Saturday. Please meet at Central Station no later than 11:15. BFD Eng 1 will lead the funeral procession from the church to the cemetery, a Vernon engine will follow the hearse.ALL PARTICIPATION WILL BE IN CLASS A UNIFORM (no badge covers) .

It is with regret that the Brattleboro Vermont Fire Department announces the passing of Retired Assistant Chief John E. Wheelden Sr. John served the Brattleboro Fire Department for 57 years. He retired from his career position in 1987, but served on the Call Force until 2009. John also served as a volunteer with the Vernon Vermont Fire Department and the Wilmington Vermont Fire Department. He is a Honorary Life Member of Brattleboro and Wilmington Fire Departments. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time and will be announced at a later date.
Friday December 14th and Saturday December 15th. The ribbon cutting will be on the 14th at 1300. Tours will also be available on the 15th from 0900-1500. Be sure to watch the video embedded in the newspaper article.

Cheshire County Forest Fire Warden’s Dinner and meeting will be Tuesday, December 4th at the church in Nelson. Dinner at 1900 hours, meeting at 2000 hours, and Yankee Swap to follow.
