Meadowood Meat Loaf Supper

The Meadowood County Area Fire Department will be having a Meat Loaf Supper on November 14, 2009 at the Meadowood Assembly Hall on Bowkerville Rd in Fitzwilliam, NH from 4:30pm – 7pm. Tickets are $9 for adults and $5 for children under 12. Tickets are available at the door or see a Meadowood firefighter for more details. We look forward to seeing everyone there.

First Due Decisions for the

Truck Company Officer

Date: Tuesday, November 10, 2009

Time: 0830-1630 hours

Location: New Hampshire Fire Academy

222 Sheep Davis Road (Route 106)

Concord, NH

Cost: $95.00 per student; includes lunch

$70.00 for FIOANH members

Application Deadline: November 3, 2009 Maximum: 25 students

Synopsis:

This is an exciting new program designed for the fire officer or experienced firefighter responsible for

performing the initial size-up and implementing initial strategic decisions and tactical operations at fires in

residential occupancies. A morning classroom session, followed by multiple practical

evolutions will allow the student to expand his/her knowledge base while enhancing existing

and newly acquired skills.

The day will address Truck Company operations. Topics and practical drills will include:

_ Dynamic crew size-up prior to and during response and once on scene.

_ The importance of knowing your “neighborhood” and response area.

_ The step-by-step on scene process of gaining access, interior recon, the

search and removal of patients/victims, isolation of the fire problem and

overhaul.

_ The importance of communication, coordination and cooperation with

command staff and other companies operating on the scene.

Lead Instructor:

Michael Ciampo is a fourth generation firefighter, currently serving the FDNY as a Lieutenant with Ladder 45 in

Washington Heights, Manhattan. He previously spent five years with the District of Columbia Fire Department working in

Ladder 3/Rescue 3 and served as a volunteer firefighter in Wyckoff, NJ. He is a Certified NY State Instructor and is the

Lead Instructor for the FDIC Hands-On-Training Ladders program and fr equent FDIC lecturer. He is also a HOT Session

Instructor for Firehouse World and Expo in Engine/Truck Operations classes. Michael is a contributing editor to Fire

Engineering magazine and his instructional videos can be viewed on FireEngineering.com.

_ Selecting and deploying the proper hose size, length, and nozzle

configuration.

_ Advancing the attack line in an effective manner, locating points of

refuge and hose management skills to insure safe extinguishment.

_ The importance of communication, coordination and cooperation with

command staff and other companies operating on the scene.

Lead Instructor:

Ray McCormack is a 28 year veteran of the FDNY, currently serving as a Lieutenant with Engine 69 in Harlem, Manhattan.

Ray is a Certified NY State Instructor and lectures on the role of the company officer in Engine and Ladder company operations.

He has presented at Firehouse Expo, FDIC and FDIC East. He is a frequent contributor to Fire Engineering magazine and his

instructional videos can viewed on FireEngineering.com. Ray is a lead instructor for LiveBurnTraining.com, a fire service training

company specializing in hands-on-training.
